History
Apparently, the parish of Gavião was already populated during Roman times, as it was fertile land and because of its location in an extensive field, taking into account some archaeological elements from that period.
Its settlement began around the 12th century and, over time, life in the municipality of Gavião proceeded with the regularity allowed by its remoteness from large centres.
In terms of heritage, the landscape is the main monument of this historic town.
Gavião is an essentially agricultural municipality. Its population maintains the rural traits that have shaped its history and ethnography.
