Ponte de Sor is a Portuguese city in the district of Portalegre, in the region of Alentejo and in the sub-region of Alto Alentejo, with about 7000 inhabitants. It is the third-largest city in the Portalegre district.
It is the seat of a municipality with 839.71 km² in area and 16 722 inhabitants, subdivided into 5 parishes. The municipality is limited to the northeast by the municipalities of Gavião and Crato, to the east by Alter do Chão, to the southeast by Avis, to the south by Mora, to the southwest by Coruche, and to the northwest by Chamusca and Abrantes.
Economy and Industry
In economic terms, the cork sector stands out, with a thriving aeronautics sector, such as the French company DynAéro, the Portuguese group G Air Group and the Tekever Group unmanned aircraft factory.
